This Banaoang Bridge view captures the famous bridge spanning the Abra River, with the colossal, lush green mountains providing a dramatic backdrop. The original steel truss bridge, an architectural landmark connecting the towns of Bantay and Santa, is a testament to the region's history and engineering. Standing there, taking in the clear, turquoise water and the massive scale of the mountains, made me feel completely insignificant against the scale of Mother Nature. This kind of scenery is what truly makes a road trip unforgettable.

This beautiful, centuries-old structure, built from bricks, stand proudly as a sentinel, having once served as a lookout againts pirates and invader. The massive, rustic bell toweris a powerful reminder of the Philippines colonial past. Ilove exploring the grounds and taking that iconic shot with the "I love Bantay" sign! It'sright next to the historic Saint Augustine Parish Church, making it perfect spot to appriciate the rich heritage of Bantay.
Stepping under that massive archway, I was instantly surrounded by dense, towering trees. The air was cool, fresh, and filled with the sounds of nature—a perfect respite from the sun. This park is a hidden gem for anyone who loves a good trek or just wants to immerse themselves in a preserved forest. It’s a great place for a peaceful walk and a wonderful way to appreciate the region’s biodiversity.
The Ilocos Region, from the historical bricks of Bantay to the dense canopy of Caniaw and the awe-inspiring mountain vistas, offers so much for every kind of traveler. I came away with a refreshed spirit and a memory card full of incredible photos!
